Secretary - General NATO, Jens Stoltenberg on Thursday, called on all allies to be engaged “for cyber defence in light of Russia's war in Ukraine.
In his key address to the NATO Conference on Cyber Defence Vow in Italy, Stoltenberg said: “this year, Euro-Atlantic security has been shaken by the president's (rus) (Vladimir) Putin against democratic and sovereign Ukraine”.
A part of Russia's aggression is an invisible cyberspace war... Cyberethics is a constantly disputed space. And the border between peace, crisis and conflict is unclear,” said Stoltenberg, adding that this is why NATO has taken cyber threats so seriously. For so long.
Chief NATO said cyber attacks could spur NATO's Article 5, which means that an attack on an ally is an attack on everyone.
“The threat from cyberspace is real and growing. That is why our Vow for Cyber Protection is so important”, he said.
So I call on allies to engage again in cyber defence. With more investments. More expertise. And enhanced cooperation. This is a vital part of our collective protection. And we're all in this together”, he added.
