After abandoning Kosovo institutions, the official position of the Serbian List so far is that this subject will not participate in these elections. Likewise, skeptics have expressed other political subjects from the Serb community.
CEC spokesman Valmir Elezi has told Kosovo priss that the Law for General Elections and the Law for Local Elections does not limit how much voter turnout should be in a municipality so that the outcome can be certified by the CEC.
The Law for General Elections and the Law on Local Elections does not limit how much voter turnout should be in a certain municipality, so that the result can then be certified by the Central Election Commission”, Elesi said.
spokesperson Elez indicated that for elections in the north, the ballot for electing a mayor could have only one candidate.
Even the issue of the number of certified candidates is not limited to the Law for General Elections, nor to the Law for Local Elections. So, the ballot can only have one candidate, who is certified by the Central Election Commission for participation in the election for chairmanship of a designated” municipality, he said.
Elez cites the last local elections of 2021 for the mayor of the Ranillug municipality, where there has been only one candidate in the ballot.
“Rests like this we've had in the last local elections of 2021, so for the mayoral election of the Ranillug municipality, we've only had one candidate on the ballot”, he points out.
Following the resignations of four leaders from the ranks of the Serb community in the four northern municipalities, Kosovo's president has announced extraordinary elections on December 18th for northern Mitrovica, Leposaviq, Zubin Potok and Zvecan.
