The one who is staying in Spain at the Regional Forum '%Union for the Mediterranean said that “does not know whether my colleagues will allow me to try to respond at least to what is most current, and in which the European Union is most involved, which is this forged agreement between Kosovo and Serbia”
The Spanish diplomat said he's very happy with that “deal because we've been fighting since last August to reach him”.
We were about to get it Monday. It was not possible, but, 48 hours later, I am glad that he has reconsidered and that the two negotiators from Kosovo and Serbia went to Brussels and last night, when I was landing in Barcelona, I was able to share with the Spanish ninja that there has been an agreement under the ease of the European Union and my Special Representative [for Dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, Miroslav Lajcak] who deals directly with these issues. The two sides have managed to reach an agreement and accept a proposal based on de-progressing the crisis so that we can focus on what really matters, which is normalising relations between Pristina and Belgrade”, Borrell said.
According to him, both sides have also agreed and acknowledged that what was decided years ago must be implemented.
In other words, past agreements must be implemented. In the coming days, I will invite the two sides of Serbia and Kosovo back to Brussels to resume discussion on the normalisation process”, he added.
Among other things, Borrell stressed that there is a very important agreement that prevents us from having a new crisis that could generate violence in northern Kosovo.
“saves us from a crisis. With the support of the international community, we can now move forward in discussing a proposal I have put on the table, following an emergency meeting in August that has the support of France and Germany. [Proposal] should allow us not to go from crisis to crisis, and from extending to stretching, from specific problems, but to seek a permanent solution to a problem that exists between Kosovo and Serbia all know that and that it must pass through a normalisation of relations in the conditions that both sides agree to”.
