The European Union has a proposal to emerge from the crisis in the country's north, following the Serb resignation from Kosovo institutions.
EU High Representative Josep Borrell has said the proposal, which must initially be discussed, is a good way out of this situation.
In a proposal for the media before the start of the EU Council of Ministers meeting, Borrell has invited both sides, Kosovo and Serbia to fulfil their pledges and respect commitments to implement past agreements agreed on many years ago.
Kosovo and Serbia have kept me busy this weekend in Paris. I met with Prime Minister Kurti and President Vuciq. We are unhappy with the current crisis. We need to address crisis mode and approach structurally. We've submitted a proposal. This proposal has to be discussed, it's a good way out of this situation. I have to tell you both sides, to meet their commitments, to respect commitments, to implement past agreements, which have already agreed many years ago, and to start finding a solution”, Borrell said.
The Council of Ministers' work will be extended in two days -- on November 14th and 15th -- while other topics will be discussed.
We remember that Prime Minister Albin Kurti has reiterated that he will not accept single-ethnic association in Kosovo, while he said recent developments should not distract attention from the final agreement with mutual recognition. He has given no indication that he may also withdraw from the decision on the license plates, whose implementation has been requested by the United States and the European Union.
The situation in the north took another direction after members of the Serb community resigned from Kosovo institutions, indicating that they opposed the implementation of the Kosovo Government plan to register cars with Kosovo Republic RKS license plates.
