Bislimi: Lajcak's involvement in the license issue has been wrong

In an interview for Radio Free Europe, Bislimi says he expects the implementation of the Kosovo Government's decision to reregister these Kosovo license plates to go well, without having to fine citizens.

Bislimia, among other things, has commented on US and EU frustration with Kurti Government, adding that the involvement of the European Union's envoy for dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, has been wrong.

Faithful Bislimi: I think the term disappointment in Albanian probably gets a little bit more exaggerated cootation than what's thought of standing there. The requirement for postponement for 10 months has come as a kind of correction of Miroslav Lajcak's (European Union envoy for dialogue) to implement for 12 months.

Since we only had a two - month period that we implemented, they demanded that this increase in 10 months. I think this has a wrong interpretation of Lajcak's office on implications stemming from the 2016 agreement.

In 2016 an agreement has been made from January 2017 through January 2018 to open a window similar to the current window. But that window is open and closed. It means, this projection of the 2016 deal has been consumed overall, and therefore any reference to that agreement is groundless. But since not all international actors have all the information and all the details of past agreements, there has been a conviction that the proposal is worth taking seriously.

We've taken this request seriously, but we've thought that within these parameters, the best answer is to scale the measures rather than go with immediate intervention after November 1st, as we thus best respond to the challenges that have forced us to postpone the measures by April 21st.

But the April 21st itself also has a reason since the September 2021 agreement has been that Brussels before April 21st 2022 should help both sides produce a permanent agreement about license plates and that according to EU standards and best practices.

Since Brussels has failed to reach this agreement, we already think that the discussion of the plates is no longer part of the dialogue process in Brussels. It is only a phase of implementing the decisions of the state of Kosovo.

So even in this context, I think it was Mr. Lajcak and his recommendations. Not only was it wrong, but maybe it produced wrong side effects.
