On the second day of Population Record Week, Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislim stressed that the amount shared by the government for this project is over 12m euros, according to him that at the end of this process, there is a complete system of statistical data.
He said that through census data, the population will receive more accuracy with data on economic, financial and service activities.
Bislimi also said that as governments are ready for co-operation in this project.
“As a government we consistently express commitment and willingness to provide all our human resources available so that the Kosovo Statistics Agency can successfully complete this activity. The last census has been held for more than 10 years, so we very much need to refresh our demographic, socioeconomic data. For this project we are sharing over 12m euros, so that at the end of this process we will have a complete system of statistical data and that completely in line with international standards and practices”, Bislimi said.
He added that the census would be comprehensive and qualitative, not only in terms of the census but also of persons involved in polling.
Emilja Rexhepi, deputy prime minister, said the census of households and residences is the largest statistical poll, whose goal is to gather basic data for the number, territorial distribution and population composition according to demographic and economic characteristics.
She said state authorities should work in the presentation, promotion and education of citizens so that the census is successful.
“The census is not perceived as a statistical matter, but a political question to act through the political action of certain political circles in line with the number of religious or national statements, which is 100% catastrophic for the state and those elite politicians that we're looking at in the long-term plan and as a government we want to change it. State institutions need to assume responsibility that field registerers are from all national communities as well as to speak the language of that population... so that state authorities must work in the presentation, promotion and education of citizens so that the census can be fully successful for all”, Rexhepi said. The census in Kosovo will be organised next year, from September 1st to October 16th.
