Only 5,000 of the 43 thousand disabled children go to school

The ombudsman has set aside time for children's rights. The institution has submitted recommendations for the Ministry of Education and Comunates in order to take measures to improve and promote their rights in education, Dukajni reports.

A special focus, the ombudsman in the latest published report, has cost children with limited abilities.

According to this institution, at least 50 percent of these children are still far from being involved in education.

The disabled children are still experiencing serious difficulties and face obstacles to the full joy of human rights defined by law. Disabled children belong to one of the most endangered groups of children. Their situation has gotten worse by Pandemia”.

This report criticises the Ministry of Education for concrete inaction.

“Today, there are no results in any curriculum designed for children with special needs. However, the AugustI underground acts envision individual educational plans for children with special needs as an official document for planning the teaching process of children with special needs and for the support and progress of these children”.

The situation has been commented on by the connoisseur of education issues, Youth Qehaja, who says more needs to be done for these children.

“is based on support in infrastructure, whether in human resources, but most importantly in a more inclusive quality for this category of children by providing it with quality and equal schooling like any of their peers, said Qehaja.

In the meantime, a study of U n NICEF says that in Kosovo there are 43 thousand students with special needs, while only 5,000 are involved in institutional education offered by schools and regulations.
