KFOR commander has met with Serbian List Chairman Goran Rakiq and the heads of four northern municipalities of the Republic of Kosovo. KFOR's leader has let Rakiqi and municipality representatives in the north know KFOR's continued activities and efforts to prevent any escalation in the future.
“During this connoisseur meeting, KFOR commander discussed the overall situation, especially for reliable and transparent communication and for aspects of security in northern Kosovo. He also informed Mr. Rakiq and representatives of municipalities for KFOR's continued activities and efforts to prevent any escalation in the future”, said the communique.
“COMKFOR assured mayors that KFOR is closely monitoring the situation, especially in northern Kosovo, and remains focused on the daily implementation of its mandate stemming from UN Security Council Resolution 1244 in 1999 to ensure a safe and secure environment and freedom of movement. For all communities living in Kosovo”, the report says.
General Riztuccia's “called on all sides to avoid unilateral actions, preserve content, refrain from violence and engage constructively in dialogue. KFOR remains impartial and committed to providing the security framework in which EU-brokered dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina could continue, the communique said.
