In a communiqué issued after the meeting, Vucic has shown hope that much needed peace on European soil will be achieved in a short period of time.
This meeting comes a day after German Minister for Europe and Kliman Anna Lührmann has called on Serbia to harmonise foreign policy with that of the European Union.
Serbia, though a candidate country for membership in the European Union, has refused to impose sanctions on Russia for the war launched in Ukraine despite Western officials' calls.
In the October 24th communiqué, it is said that the issues discussed between Vuciqi and the Russian ambassador have been: bilateal co-operation, geopolitical situation and regional issues.
“Two conversationators have discussed the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, President Vuciq has stressed that Serbia, despite all challenges, continues to have peaceful policy and is committed to implementing all agreements reached so far and that the international law is respected” is said in the statement.
This meeting has been held as Kosovo's deadline for re-registering Serbian license plates in the RKS- Republic of Kosovo approaches.
The deadline for reregistering cars in the RKS has started on September 1st and ends on October 31st.
So far, the Government of Kosovo has said the deadline for reregisteration will not be extended, and that on November 1st, cars with license plates issued by Serbia will no longer be able to circulate.
