Von der Leyen to visit Kosovo on Thursday

At the same time, the EU has expressed itself ready to include the countries of this region in some of its policies, including in plans to provide new sources of electricity, gas and oil, at a time when the EU is taking measures to reduce its influence from Russia.
For these and other topics, it is expected to be discussed at meetings that leaders of Western Balkan countries will have with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyeen, which will launch a four-day tour of the six countries in this region this week.
Visits to Western Balkan countries European Commission President Von der Leyn will begin in Skopje on Wednesday. From there on Thursday, he will visit Kosovo, from the same day forward to Tirana.
Von der Leyen will continue the tour of Sarajevo on October 28th and in Belgrade. The president of the European Commission will wrap up this tour of the six Western Balkan countries on Saturday, October 29th.
Von der Leyen in the region will also discuss regional co-operation, European reforms, findings of recent progress reports and common challenges, such as migration management and coping with rising energy and food prices. Russia's aggression towards Ukraine and its consequences for both the Balkan region and Europe will also be one of the topics expected to be discussed. / REL/
