EC president will first meet with the first state, Vjosa Osmani, and later with Prime Minister Albin Kurti. After the meetings, there will be a scheduled news conference around 10:00.
Von der Leyen today has started her visit to Western Balkan countries, and the first host state is North Macedonia, where he comes from tomorrow to Kosovo. After Kosovo, the EC president will go to Albania, while on Friday morning she will travel towards Bosnia and Herzegovina, later to Serbia and at the end of Saturday, she will stay in Montenegro.
As the EU suggests, the main reason for late der Leeyen's arrival in the region is the discussion of the energy crisis and the provision of Union support.
Russia's “Energy Survey and market manipulation are not saving the Western Balkans. The EU is determined to support our partners in meeting high energy prices and improving their energy security in the long run. This is the context of President von der Leyeen's visit to the Western Balkans this week”, the announcement said.
