The announcement was made by Russian news agencies Tass and RIA, quoting the Russian Defence Ministry. Limani lies 100 miles [160 km] southeast of Kharkiwi, Ukraine's second largest city.
The city was considered an important point for Russian troops, both land communications and logistics. Already Ukraine is likely to continue to progress further, potentially in the occupied Luhansk region, which is one of the four regions Russia posted on Friday.
Ukrainian forces arrived in Lima on Saturday, surrounding thousands of Russian troops, who, according to a spokesman for Ukraine's eastern forces, were estimated at about 5,500 (strongs).
Lieman's capture is considered a strong blow to Russia.
On Saturday, the ministry's Telegram channel published a series of congratulations messages, including one by President Putin, to mark Earth Military Forces Day.
Today, the British Defence Ministry announced that the missile used to hit a humanitarian convoy in Ukraine “was likely a long-range Russian missile action”.
In the British intelligence report posted on Twitter, it added that the use of such a high-value <x0-source” in the attack near Zaporizia “has been almost certainly promoted by the general lack of ammunition, especially high-accurate, long-range action”.
The report also said that Friday's attack on the day Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the annexation of four regions in Ukraine resulted in “in the murder by Russian troops of civilians that Moscow currently claims to be its citizens”.
The attack took place near the towns of Zaporitis and Mikolaiwi. As a result, some 26 people were killed and some 40 others injured. In the impact of the ships, people traveled to conquered areas to save their families.
In a message on the social network, Ukraine's President Voldymyr Zelenskyy wrote that: We'll answer for every lost Ukrainian life!
On Friday at the United Nations Security Council meeting, Russia vetoed a draft resolution naming Russian referenda in Ukraine as <x0 illegal”.
Ten countries supported the resolution, among them the United States and Albania, countries that submitted the resolution to the Security Council.
China, Gabon, India and Brazil abstained, while Russia was the only country to vote against the resolution.
US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Grenfield said that if Russia chooses to avoid responsibility, we will take further steps at the General Assembly to send a message to Moscow that the world is still on the side of the protection of sovereignty and territorial integrity”.
International Crisis Group chief Richard Gowan said Western diplomats knew Russia would veto the resolution, but he added that the document was meant as a presumption to hold a vote in the General Assembly to condemn Russia's actions.
He said the United States “worked hard to ensure China's ambestination”, a move he said was important for the United States “to show that Beijing does not support Moscow”.
In comments prior to the vote, Russian Ambassador Vassily Nebenzia said the resolution was not “anything more than a low provocation”, adding that residents of the regions where the “referenda have made an informed and free choice”. /Vosa
