The ceremony starts tonight at 20:30, but it is already known that the winner will be Carim Benzema.
It becomes known that journalists from 100 countries also vote for Golden Ball after the list of 30 elected candidates is published.
There were many surprises in previous years regarding the vote, but no one could pass the journalist from Sri Lanka, Hafiz Marikar, who distributed his votes in a very strange way.
He was caught in the spotlight in 2017 when many noticed his strange voting criteria. Marikar points to Leonardo Bonuccit, David de Gea, Radamel Falcao, Eden Hazard, and Harry Kane.
It should be noted that Cristiano Ronaldo won the Golden Ball at the time, followed by Lionel Messi and Neymar.
A year later, he surprised again. He gave Hazard the most votes, and there were Roberto Firmino, Paul Pogba, Cristian Ronaldo and Harry Kane on the list. The award was then won by Luca Modric in front of Ronaldos and Griesmann. Marikar was also in the spotlight in 2019. Then the Golden Ball won Lionel Mess, who was ahead of Van Dijk and Ronaldo.
He voted for Trent Alexander-Arnold, followed by Aubamyang, Greezmann, Leandowski and Ter Stegen. After that, France Football decided to overhaul the vote in terms of journalists. Previously, journalists from 176 countries voted, but this list has been cut to 100 countries, and Sri Lanka has no right to split its votes since last year.
