Ukraine and Russia have conducted another exchange for prisoners, Ukrainian President Andriy Yermak said on 29 October. According to him, the action resulted in the release of 52 Ukrainian citizens.
He said that involved in the exchange are “officers, doctors, sergeants and soldiers”.
Denis Pushil, the administrator of the territory calling itself the Donjeck People's Republic, said 50 people from each side were changed.
The Russian Defence Ministry said 50 soldiers returned, adding that they were “in the deadly risk of captivity”.
They will be sent to Moscow by the Russian Army for treatment and rehabilitation, the ministry said.
Even on October 11th, Ukraine said 32 of its soldiers were released under the exchange of prisoners with Russia.
Russia and Ukraine have exchanged a large number of war inmates -- almost 300 people -- on September 21st. This is the largest exchange of prisoners since the start of the war.
The war in Ukraine has begun on February 24th.
President Putin calls the war <x0 special military operation” to demilitarise Ukraine.
The West has responded to Russia, striking the economy of this state with severe sanctions.
As a result of the war, thousands have died, and millions of others have been displaced from their homes.
