Prosecutor Wants 30 Days in Jail for Sexual Attack Suspect against Mrika Nikqi

Peja's prosecution has applied for the appointment of a 30-day detention measure for 25-year-old Flori Beciran, who allegedly sexually attacked climber Mrika Nikqi on Tuesday evening in Pec. Alpinist Mrika Nikqi published a video on the social Facebook network Friday afternoon, where she said she was the victim of sexual assault by a person with F.B. initials on Tuesday at 20:50 on one of the main streets of Pec City.

Prosecutor's spokesman, Shkodran Nikci, said that two state prosecutors who have been in co-ordination with the Kosovo Police until the suspect's identification and arrest have been engaged in the case.

“Pass has been reported on September 27th, the Constitutional Prosecution in Pec, respectively, the two state prosecutors have been engaged in this criminal case in full co-ordination with the Kosovo Police and relevant units, where the identification of persons through public security cameras and then has been made his arrest, and by the order of the prosecutor has been detained for 48 hours. Furthermore, Nikci said all necessary actions are under way in connection with the case, and that the prosecutor has estimated there is a suspicion based that suspect F.B. has accomplished the work of sexual assault.

Regarding the request for the detention measure, the state prosecutor has argued that there is a well-founded doubt that the same has committed the criminal act of sexual assault and has explained the reasons which should remain the same in the measure of detention for three acts that can repeat the criminal work, may affect the witness, but may also flee”, he said.

The concerned attack has also been expressed by the citizens of Peja who seek higher security from the justice organs.

Elsa Beqiri, citizen of Peja, has expressed concern over the case of sexual harassment by climber Mrika Nikqi. She said competent organs should be taken seriously on this issue.

I've had a bad time with her, because we're not safe to go out at night in the town where we grew up, it's terrible... For now nothing is certain, I hope they will do something in many ways in this case and be safe when we go out, I hope this case will not happen to anyone else”, she said.

Mentore Dolin, citizen, has demanded that justice be established for this case while expressing regret that women are not safe in the city.

“I hope justice bodies do this case to ease justice in the country because it's not getting enough, it has to be stricter. Too bad, women used to be cheaper, now they're suffering worse”, she said.

Mrika Nikqi is a young climber who, along with his father in 2019, successfully completed the climb mission on the seven highest peaks on the seven continents of the world. She is the youngest girl in the world who has climbed seven Maya before turning 18.
