Political recognisers say Kosovo-Serbia final agreement not expected to be reached even next year

Political officials in the country say they do not expect a quick deal, not even next year.

According to them, the government should consult the issue with opposition parties in order not to have trouble with any kind of final proposal for the dialogue issue.

Former dialogue minister Edita Tahiri adviser Gazmir Raci in an interview for Online Economy has said the important Kosovo is that the US is taking part in delaying this process ahead.

According to him, Kosovo with the help of the US and two European powers, Germany and France, will complete a process that is very sensitive due to geopolitical circumstances.

Because of the great importance I do not expect a quick deal at the next meeting. But I expect the positions between the two delegations to be brought closer even though Serbia's position we already know publicly. They have voiced opposition to the German-French proposal. According to Racci, on the Kosovo-Serbia issue, the government should consult with opposition parties as well.

I expect that the government and the prime minister should open even broader political debate. The opposition factor in the Kosovo Assembly should also be consulted so that we do not have any further trouble with any final proposal for the” dialogue issue, Raci concluded.

On the other hand, political analyst Shqirim Pula says that even in the past Kosovo has had several non-parly ideas and proposals that in content had to provide solutions to Kosovo-Serbia status.

Even in the past, we have had some called money that had ideas and proposals in their contents to address the Kosovo status issue Serbia. But, of course, caution is needed, and in this case, the Government is taking care of its contents and authorship. We have yet to submit who the authors of this proposal are and it is simple to say a document or a French-German proposal, but it should not be forgotten that neither France nor Germany have publicly stated the authorship on this document”, Pula said.

According to him, from statements coming from Serbian state officials it seems there will be no achievement of the final goal this year, nor next year.

Meanwhile, during today's meeting with the President from Malta, George Brother, Osmani has said that mutual recognition with Serbia is the only solution which brings lasting peace and stability to the region.
