But according to them, the relevant institutions must create favourable investment conditions starting with regular electricity supply.
Professor Musa Limani said foreign investments are attracted not only through political statements, but by concrete work.
He has cited a range of conditions that must be met, aimed at fighting crime and corruption and political influences.
Kosovo has what it offers to foreign investors and the Albanian diaspora, but to attract foreign investors, the Government must meet certain conditions and preconditions, and these are political stabilisation, the sustainable energy supply that it is not, the fight of corruption and abuses that are very high, then there is no adequate support of fiscal policy measures, no guarantee of their capital”.
“We cannot draw foreign investment only through political statements, but concrete measures must be taken. Do not meet these conditions has caused Kosovo to have at least a foreign investment”.
Limani added that the main factors for Kosovo's further economic development are exactly foreign investments.
Foreign investments bring their capital and advance in Kosovo by building new capacities and thus boosting the number of employees, then bring new technologies, bring innovation to leadership in business, enable the integration of Kosovo's economy into international integration processes, ensure markets”, he said.
On the other hand, economic expert Jakup Bellqa said that employment-generating investments are welcome.
Bellaqa said that the cause of lack of foreign investment for the past two years has been pandemic, high inflation and several other causes, adding that foreign investment is among the most important components of economic development.
“If those investments had been in strategic sectors of the economy that generate employment, then it had been welcome”, he said.
The “here is another element that has affected the past two years, it has been the pandemic then high inflation, to have foreign investments must make changes in fiscal policies, even monetary policies. In times of inflation, in time of economic crises, fiscal policies had been more necessary, reducing tax rates, ensuring parcels, providing legal infrastructure and other conditions in order to lure foreign investors. With foreign investments, Kosovo's economy is open”.
Days ago, Economy Minister Artane Rizvanolli said that during discussions at the Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies, Kosovo is on track in attracting foreign direct investment. / EO
