KFOR Commander Major General Angelo Michele Ristuccia met in Belgrade with Serbia's Army chief, General Milan Mojsilovic, with whom he has talked about the security situation and co-operation in behalf of regional stability.
In a media communiqué, KFOR announced that the meeting also discussed routine exercises in Serbia called “Manovrat 2022”, organised by the Armed Forces of Serbia, which will last until 6 November.
Major General Riztuccia stressed KFOR's steadfast commitment to the daily implementation of its mandate, to provide a safe environment and freedom of movement for all communities living in Kosovo. He added that KFOR continues to provide the security framework needed for the EU-mediated dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade to move forward.
According to official information on the Serbian Defence Ministry's site, the exercise includes ground and air forces. The “in the exercise will also take part in the reserve force, which will perform exercises to update the knowledge they have received during the military service”, says the report.
Serbia has been declared militarily neutral, but in some cases it has held joint exercises with Russia and with NATO. The country has been sharply criticised because of its refusal to join sanctions against Russia.
