The phenomenon of electricity losses, which in practice are classified as technical or commercial losses, is equal to the difference between produced energy and sold energy.
The losses of electricity in our distribution network have been markedly minimized thanks to the planning and conglomerating of electricity lines and the enterprise of the appropriate steps for the exact marking of these losses.
Since privatized KEDS in 2013, given the existing risk circumstances from commercial-minor use losses, the KED Department of Loss constantly undertook shares in identifying electricity abusers. Thanks to the commitment of the department's control teams, during the 2019-2021 period alone over 30,000 consumers have been identified illegally locked into the power grid. So a significant number of these consumers have already filed criminal charges.
Even in the first six months of this year, 3281 such cases have been recorded. Despite that, KED control teams have increased field presence in order to reduce further losses, which teams are doing through the use of sophisticated devices available.
Controls needed for as many internet losses as possible give a message to all misusing consumers that stealing electricity is unacceptable and punishable by the laws of the Republic of Kosovo.
KEDS remains committed to continuing fighting electrical power thefts and demands from relevant organs and citizens to join us in this battle, since together it can be won much easier and faster, making consumers receive more quality, cheaper and safer services.
