And this agreement under a former Israeli minister would have to include within himself the association of Serbian municipalities.
In an interview for Tev 1, former Israeli State Foreign Minister Schlomo Ben-Ami says the final agreement should be based on Kosovo's territorial integrity.
The final agreement should include the association of Serbian municipalities, ties between the Serb community and Serbia. This is something that can't be avoided. It's a natural connection. But it should also contain respect for the territorial integrity of Kosovo”, he says.
Israel considers both countries should work on agreements that will be applicable to both sides.
When there's always a problem of identity, ethnicity, nationalism or religion, it's extremely difficult to solve, it always stays there. Don't expect memories to disappear. What you need countries are implementable agreements, things that can be agreed on”, he says.
According to Ben-Am if Putin wins the war in Ukraine, there is risk of escalation of the situation in the Balkans.
If Putin wins, what I don't believe will happen would give his allies courage and power in the Balkans. But a less powerful Putin will also have an impact on the behaviour of Serbs”, he says.
Ben-Am was Israel's minister of Public Security in 1999. Then he was foreign minister from 2000 to 2001. He's Israel's first ambassador to Spain. Currently holds the position of vice president of the International Centre for Peace in Toledo, Spain “Citax”
