New government in Italy: Mellon seeks to be mandated by country president

Mellon and her campaign allies met with President Sergio Mattella for about 10 minutes at the Quarinal presidential palace, writes Al Jazeera.
She told reporters that the coalition had unanimously shown Mattella that she deserved the mandate to govern.
If the 45-year-old Melon was accepted, she would be the first woman to become Italy's prime minister.
Mellon is backed by its two main right-wing allies, BAR Matteo Salvini and former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi.
