The year 2021 replaced 2020 as the most stressful year in recent times, with a new record 41% of adults worldwide, saying they experienced a lot of stress than before. Around the world, not everyone felt that way. The stress reported depended on a level of [...]
Around the world, not everyone felt that way. The stress reportedly ranged from a high level of 74% in Afghanistan and Lebanon to a low 12% level in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, where stress levels have been historically lower.
What about Albania? The report shows that our country is one of the most stressful countries last year, with 59% of Albanians claiming that stress has dominated good or positive feelings. This is the highest figure in the Balkans, measured by the Gallup Emotion Index 2021/2022.
The world is also fighting from a silent pandemic. Gallup finds that 330 million adults spend at least two weeks without talking to a friend or family member. And just because some people have friends doesn't mean they have good friends. A fifth of all adults do not have one person they can rely on for help.
Global woe is also increasing because of a daily aspect of life's work. Many believe that a good and solid wage meets your work needs, when in fact people who are miserable at work statistically are more likely to experience negative emotions than someone who has no job at all.
Gallup measures everyday emotions in 145 countries by asking people if they've experienced five positive emotions and five negative emotions the day before. Five negative experiences include anger, stress, sadness, physical pain, and concern.
Five positive experiences include feeling relaxed, being treated with respect, joy, laughter, learning, or doing something interesting. Countries with less and more emotions are based on the rankings of average answers “po” on all questions.
In particular, questions about positive and negative emotions form the Gallup positive and negative indexes respectively.
Both indicators aim to measure how people live life compared to how people see life. /Monitor. al
