A witness told Reuters news agency that black smoke was seen coming out of a building in the centre of the city following the sound of an explosion.
Others in the social media posted images claiming to be from the city, with some claiming that a <x0... rocket attack <xx1> was “struck” by Ukrainian forces.
Kiev has been largely calm since the beginning of the war, with the front line moving east and south after Moscow failed to bring down the government.
