EU: Kosovo Government's decision on billboards is not in line with agreements from dialogue

At the Media Conference in Brussels, she reiterated that Pristina has the right to implement the decision to re-register it in phases, but that the process must be conducted in an agreed, comprehensive and through dialogue.

“We have said this decision is a step in the right direction, but it is not part of the dialogue that is binding on both sides”, Masral said at the media conference, responding to the question of what Brussels' future steps will be.

She also stressed that the EU continues to work with partners to find a permanent solution.

“We again call on all sides to remain calm so that there will be no new tensions on the ground”, Masrali stressed.

The EU last night has asked Pristina to allow a longer transitional period for Serbs to register vehicles on RKS license plates.

Otherwise, Kosovo's Ministry of Internal Affairs has again called on Serbian citizens to register their vehicles on RKS license plates, while fines for those facing driving without these fine plates will be 150 euros.

A media communiqué says that such a thing could be done in all Automake Recording Centres, following the Kosovo Government's decision, dated 28.10.2022, for the registration process to become a scaled-up in phases, until the completion of this legal process by April 21st, 2023.

With the new decision, from November 1, 2022, all owners of the vehicles that circulate with illegal license plates will be pronounced the measure of reproof, with the same being directed to the Auto-registering Centre to register their vehicles with RKS plates.

From November 21st to January 21st, for all owners of the vehicles that circulate on the territory of the Republic of Kosovo with illegal license plates “PR”, “KM”, “PZ”, “GL”, “UR”, “PE” “DA” or “A” will be pronounced fine under legislation in force, at 150 euros.

From January 21, 2023, owners of the license plates “PR”, “KM”, “PZ”, “GL”, “UR”, “PE”, “DA” or “To enter and circulate the territory of the Republic of Kosovo, they must be equipped with test plates with registration rights RKS with early facilities.

From March 31st to April 21, 2023, recording of the tools with “will be enabled PR”, “KM”, “PZ”, “GL”, “UR”, “PE”, “DA” or“A” on RKS license plates, but the same will not be used by the facilities offered by this date.

This process is aimed at legitimacy in our country, increasing traffic security, and is not directed at any particular ethnicity.
