Amou Haji, who has reportedly not been showering for over half a century, has died Sunday in the village of Dejgah, Iran.
Haji is said to have avoided cleaning because of fear of becoming ill because he detested soap and water. He had earlier declared that he hated even the idea of cleansing. A few months before he died, villagers in the country where he lived had encouraged him to bathe for the first time, reports IRNA.
Hay had earlier said that he chose this strange way of life, having experienced emotional obstacles in his youth. Since then he was isolated.
Like cleanliness, he was afraid of fresh food and drink.
