Dacic, invited to the morning show on Serbian television Happy, has already declared that there is new structure in the United Nations Organisation, and a eventual claim by Kosovo for membership could go very badly, since very few states would vote for the pro.
“In the UN General Assembly, out of 193 members, Kosovo cannot get more than 83 votes”, Dacic said, and added that he has already guaranteed that even the states that have recognised Kosovo will not vote for Kosovo”.
“also, there are places that change their position every six months”, he added.
“But they (Kosovo) no longer have a majority in the UN, and at the same time such a decision (for UN membership) must be approved by the Security Council, and that is why Russia and China's position is very important for us, so that they can veto”, Dacic said.
Speaking of the new proposal for agreement between Kosovo and Serbia, the former head of the Serbian Parliament added that “we did not receive any proposal that would be the basis for conversation”.
Dacic was minister of Serbia's Foreign Affairs two mandates ago, and since then he had launched a lobby campaign not only of countries that have not recognised Kosovo, but also of what they have already known, to change their stance.
Accurate figures have never been given, but Dacic's claims are that it has led dozens of countries to withdraw recognition, mainly African countries.
