Officials estimate that the Benden act will benefit some 6 thousand and 500 people with sentences known as federation for this work, the BBC writes.
No one is currently in federal prison only for the possession of marijuana. Most sentences occur at the state level.
“Sending people to prison for marijuana possession has ruined many lives for behaviors that many states no longer forbid in”, Biden expressed.
