They spoke for the first time several hours after Sunak became Britain's third prime minister this year, inheriting an economic crisis following Liz Trus' resignation, whose mandate lasted 49 days.
In recent days, Biden has publicly criticised Trus' economic strategy in a rare intervention by the American president. Relations between the two countries have also been somewhat strained in recent years amid continuing tensions over post- Brex agreements in Northern Ireland.
The White House has concerns about the impact it will have on peace in the region.
Beden and Sunnak reaffirmed “special relations” between the US and Britain and said they would work together to advance global security and prosperity, the White House said.
The “leaders agreed on the importance of co-operation to support Ukraine and hold Russia responsible for its assault”, the statement said. /Abc news
