The increase in the number of Afghans who are sinking into poverty daily is forcing them to make unusual decisions, where some are selling even the most important organs of their bodies.
In the western province of Hera, residents suffering from a lack of money are being forced to sell even their kidneys.
The country's economy is on the decline since the Taliban have come to power, following the departure of US and NATO forces.
The results have been disastrous for a country that has no calmness from civil war for decades, where unemployment and economic challenges are striking society in the worst possible way.
Inner medicine specialist Dr. Ahmad Shekaib says that those selling their kidneys are volunteers who are suffering to provide food for their families.
However, doctors are alarming that those taking such extreme measures may face serious consequences.
A lot of people selling their kidneys due to economic problems will face health problems due to lack of kidneys. The expression of kidney sales is not common in Afghanistan”, concludes Dr. Shekaib.
Agreement between buyers and kidney vendors usually behaves from 5,255 euros to 7,000 euros. /Euronews/Periscopi/
