The Pope worries about the situation in Ukraine, calls for an international day “prayers for peace”

“is following with concern the increasing tensions that threaten to trigger a new blow to peace in Ukraine and question security in Europe, which could have even broader consequences”, the Pope said on January 23rd.
The Vatican did not specify how the Pope will mark the international day for prayer for peace for Ukraine.
The United States and NATO have warned that gathering over 100,000 Russian troops at the border with Ukraine could be preparation for a possible invasion of Ukraine.
Moscow, which has denied that it is planning to invade Ukraine, has sought guarantees from NATO, which would ban the membership of former Soviet states, such as Ukraine, in this military alliance.
