Kavac Clan and Bellivuk sniper: What's known about the alleged Vuciki assassination

Officials in Serbia have sought through a statement that the state takes measures to find out who has attempted to kill Serbian President Aleksandar Vucinic.

Earlier, Vuciq, invited by Serbian private television, Pink, has confirmed that information about the assassination against him, received from Europol the European police agency.

In a statement by the regional government of Vojvodina, issued on 24 January, state authorities are required to do everything and reveal those who have prepared, reportedly, the Vuciqi murder.

Earlier, Serbia's Energy Minister Zorana Mihajlovovic has declared that threats to the murder of Serbia's president pose a security problem for the entire country.

Information about the assassination attempt has been first published by Serbia's Interior Minister Aleksandar Vulin.

On January 21st, Voulin has said that through Europol, police from a European country have informed Serbia's Interior Ministry of the creation of an organised criminal group, the “whose purpose is murder, the assassination of the president of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vuciq”, respectively.

Suspect: Switzerland

As the vulin has explained, after checking the authenticity of information, along with Europol representatives and partner services, has launched a comprehensive action to determine the identity of this “criminal organisation”.

“At the helm of this criminal organisation is Montenegrin citizen Radoje Zvicer, for whom Serbia has already issued an arrest warrant; one of the heads of the Kavaci clan, responsible for smuggling and illegal drug sales, but also organising and ordering several murders committed in the territory of the Republic of Serbia, Montenegro, but also in other countries of the”, Voulin has said.

He has added that the investigations will determine whether Radoje Switzerland has organised this criminal group under his judgment, or according to his political chief's order.

Voulin has not shown who he's referring to when he mentions the political chief of Radoje Switzerland.

Until then, MPB members and the Information Security Agency will inform the Prosecutor for Organised Creation of any information they will achieve through operational work”, Voulin said.

The prosecution has not commented on these statements.

On January 21st, Serbia's prime minister, Ana Brnabiq, has confirmed to Serbian television, Prva, that he has been informed of the potential assassination against Serbia's president and that he is scheduled, according to her, for the first half of February.

Serbia's Defence Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic has said military security services and special unit “Cobra” will do everything “to prevent any threat to President”.

Who's Switzerland?

On 21 May, 2021, Montenegro has issued an international warrant for Radoje Switzerland, on suspicion that, along with nine other people, it has formed a criminal organisation and committed serious murder.

Zvicer is mentioned in the media as one of the leaders of “Klanit Kavac” ) one of Kotor's two clans from Montenegro.

Switzerland itself survived the assassination in Ukraine in May 2020, when, according to information from the Ukrainian police, it was shot by four executions -- two from Serbia and two from Montenegro.

According to media reports, Zvicer was shot with three bullets in his chest, but has been rescued from his wife, Tamara Switzerland, who has fired a gun.

I don't know about flight”

Since he has become the first deputy prime minister in 2012, then for three years prime minister, until January 2022, when he has scored nearly five years in the presidency, the media have reported on five alleged assassinations against Aleksandar Vucinqi.

Asked by reporters at the annual media conference on assassinations to him, Vucic has said he doesn't know about a single case either.

Bellivuk sniper

Following the arrest of Velko Belivuk, on February 4th, 2021 media named as close to the Kavac criminal clan and charged with serious murder, extortion, kidnapping and drug trafficking among members of his group has found a sniper rifle with ammunition.

Two days later, on February 6, Vulin has said that there were several trained men in the group of Velko Belivuk to use the sniper rifle.

“The sniper is used to eliminate important targets, some of which you may not be able to reach so easily. These are usually representatives of the state”, the seal said at the time.

If you had killed him, you would have paralyzed the whole country and brought him into serious political instability, maybe even stopped the fight against the mafia... The only man whose death would stop the fight against the mafia would be Aleksandar Vuciq”, Voulin has said.

According to him, the security of the president of Serbia is in danger, because he “has clashed with the most powerful criminals in Europe”.

In the indictment of the Prosecutor for Organised Crime against Velko Belivuk and 29 others, which went into effect on November 11th, 2021, no mention of attempts at the Vuciki assassination.

Brnabyq for Vuciki assassination in January, 2021

Serbia's prime minister, Ana Brnabiq, has said on October 24th, 2021, that during the discovery of Prince Stefan Nemanja's monument in downtown Belgrade in January 2021, the assassination of President Vuciq has been prepared.

2016 Investigations ) Weapons in Jajnice

According to media reports, a <x0).arsenal” weapons and ammunition boxes were found in 2016 in a forest in Jajance éné, about 15 kilometers south of Belgrade near the home of Vuciq's parents.

Serbia's Radio Television (RTS) has reported at the time that shells, four hand grenades, 100 pieces of 7.62 millimeter ammunition, several bullets for automatic weapons and 10-15 unknown calibre bullets were found.

According to the RTS, weapons and ammunition have been found several hundred meters from the Vuciq family home.

At the time, Vuciq has been Serbia's prime minister, while Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic, currently defence minister.

A few days later, under investigation into Vuciki's assassination, media have reported that police in New Belgrade neighbourhood have discovered a stolen vehicle, such as Renault Megan, full of guns.

The vehicle has been found - a gun, a hecler (automatic rifle), a large quantity of ammunition, in two places from 200 grams of tritol explosives, and two mobile phones that could be used as detonators for remote explosive activate.

At the time, Serbia's Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic has told RTS that the weapons were “in an ideal location for the attacker”.

“Prime Minister [that Vuciq world] is in a safe place”, Stefanovic has said.

The “in a mile radius [about the village of Jajince], on the day of the discovery of weapons arsenal and two days ago, there were 97 top security officials, which is very unusual”, Stefanovic said in early November, 2016.

Even this case is left without a judicial epilogue.

As the Serbian portal Inseder reported, in August 2017, the High Public Prosecutor has ruled that there is no basis for launching the criminal procedure in the case in Jajnice.

Attack on Vuciki in Potocari

While Serbia's prime minister, Vuciq was attacked on July 11th 2015 in Potocari, where the 20th anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica was being marked.

Serbian Prime Minister Killed in 2003

On 12 March, 2003, Serbia's prime minister and Democratic Party leader Zoran Djindjic have been killed in Belgrade.

Djindjic has been shot dead at the entrance to the Government building of Serbia.

The mastermind of the assassination, Milorad Ulemek Legija, and sniper Zvezdan Jovanovic have been sentenced to 40 years in prison.
