Austrian Court: Electric vehicle can be returned if its autonomy is less than promised

The car manufacturer, the Volkswagen factory (VW), stressed that the fabricated autonomy of the vehicle had only informative character, because driving style and outside temperatures have a major impact on the performance of its battery.

An Austrian court has brought an interesting decision through which it has provided opportunities for new indictments if the activeness is confirmed in the second degree.

An Austrian driver has indicted e-Golf vehicle vendor because in 2018 he sold his electric automobile, which has a much smaller autonomy than what was declared to him during his purchase in the living room.

On the basis of the regional court's first establishment in Linz, the businessman must return 30,288 euros, as was the price of buying the vehicle, reduced for the specified value of use, writes Austrian portal Neue Kronen Zeitung.

According to the portal, in the case of the purchase of Volkswagen e-Golfi, buyers were promised that the radious of his movement is up to 230 kilometers of full battery. However, in the area where he used his vehicle, he could never cross more than 110 to20 miles [110-120 km].

The court stressed that the automobile salesman had not stressed the fact that the movement's radio would be smaller when temperatures are low and hill terrain.

The VW stressed that invented autonomy is only of the informative character, because driving style or outside temperature greatly impacts battery performance.

Otherwise, the e-Golf model belongs to the first generation of VWA electric vehicles. It's the modified role model Golf 7, which instead of the internal combustion engine, the batteries and the electromotor have been installed.
