The controversy has erupted after the Poland-English World Cup qualifying match for Group I, which includes Albania.
The British Football Federation has accused Kamil Glik of racist insults against Kyle Walker. The charge of members of the British federation is that racist insults have been made outside Glik's vacation dressing room, in the presence of members of the Polish federation and the fourth official. Benvento defender on the other hand denies everything:
There was a verbal war and nothing else”. FIFA has opened an investigation and Albania rubs hands: in case of disqualification, the defender may be missing in Tirana's match against the Redcutes in October.
FIFA is investigating the clash that erupted in the field just before the close of the first part in the Warsaw match. Cameras caught Glick, who seemed to be trying to sting Walker's neck directly before referee Daniel Siebert.
I know the players, and I'm sure they haven't done it and they'll never do it. We completely deny any charge of wrongdoing”. Glick himself has been protected in statements after the match: “Had a fight, later I wanted to shake Walker's hand, but he refused. There was a verbal confrontation, but nothing more happened”, the Polish defender said.
FIFA, meanwhile, studies the case and takes more time. “FIFA is analyzing official reports of the World Cup qualifying match between Poland and England. The relevant information will be assessed by competent disciplinary bodies in order to decide on future steps”.
