Former France defender Jean-Pierre Adams died at 73, nearly 40 years after he fell into a coma as a result of a medical error, his former clubs have announced, PSG and Nimes, Monday.
In 1982, Adams was given an almost fatal dose of anesthesia prior to a routine knee surgery that caused brain injury, the Periscope transmits.
Adams made 22 presentations for France in the '70s.
Since the accident, Adams has been taken care of by his wife, Bernadette.
A knee problem that Adams suffered in a training course caused Adams to need surgery, reports the report.
Bernadette had said in 2007: ”Jean-Pierre feels, sniffs, listens, jumps when the dog barks. But I can't see.” /Periscope. com/
