EU reacts: Kosovo, Serbia through dialogue to resolve license issue

European Union spokesman Peter Stano, after applying reciprocity on the Kosovo government regarding Serbia's vehicle plates, has said the EU is continuing to monitor the situation on the ground. He has called for both sides [Kosovo and Serbia] to refrain from further unilateral actions and immediately [...]
Stano, in a pronomination for Telegrafi, has said that the EU, even during the day of yesterday, has stated that freedom of movement is the cornerstone of the European Union. “As such, Kosovo and Serbia are expected to promote freedom of movement in the region”, he said.
“We continue to constantly monitor the situation on the ground, and we urge both sides to refrain from further unilateral actions and immediately reduce tensions”, Stano told Telegrafi.
He further said the EU is actively working to address the situation at all levels.
“EU High Representative Borrell during yesterday's evening was in contact with President Vuciq and Prime Minister Kurti, as well as with EU Special Representative Miroslav Lajcak, who is still in Belgrade and is continuing his work with both sides”, he said.
Stano said the EU encourages both sides [Kosovo and Serbia] to exploit the EU-launched dialogue as a platform to address and resolve all open issues between them, including freedom of movement and license.
“We are ready to host a meeting in Brussels at any time”, Stano has declared.
On Monday, the Government of Kosovo has made the decision that drivers from Serbia, once they enter Kosovo, change or cover their plates and receive Kosovo's temporary census.
With that decision, the Government of Kosovo has said it has decided on the reciprocity measure for Serbia's license plates, as a similar thing Serbia has applied for cars from Kosovo for more than ten years.
Jarinje and Brnjak, the two border crossings in northern Kosovo that are blocked by local Serbs who oppose the decision for reciprocity.
There are special units of the Kosovo Police.
Kosovo Interior Minister Xhelal Svecla said on Tuesday that Kosovo police officers are “at the level of office and are contributing to maintaining order and security”.
Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, said Serbia wants Kosovo Police to withdraw from northern Kosovo.
