Bastien Toma has openly expressed the desire to represent Switzerland in the international arena, home country, ahead of Kosovo, his parents' homeland and homeland, saying that for him to play for Switzerland would be the highest achievement.
Toma was born in Zion in 1992, by Albanian parents who had migrated to Switzerland from a village of the Year. After growing up at Zion's academy, Toma took her first major career step, joining Genc in the elite league in Belgium and says his main goal for now is to take a decent seat in the Jupiter Pro League club.
The 22-year-old mid-fielder has represented Switzerland in several different categories -- from the U15 team to the U21 team -- and hopes it will peak, wearing the National Ahelvetian fan.
Speaking to Swiss media, Toma hinted she is expecting Switzerland's invitation, while there are prayers from Kosovo. He says he will make the decision with his heart.
The decision has not been taken yet. Not yet. I have had numerous talks with Kosovo recently. But I still want to play for the Swiss national. In the end, it will be a choice of heart.
It's up to me to decide and not to my managers or my family, because I'll be alone in the field to protect the colors of one of these nations. But for now, as I said earlier, the most important thing is to deserve a place in Genk”, Toma said to Swiss radio Rhone. Asked again who he would choose, Toma insisted:
It's a complicated choice. If the Swiss team calls me, it'll be the roof. I've been playing for the different categories of Switzerland since I was very young”.
Toma made only two presentations for Genk this season, both from the bench, at Jupiter Pro League. He played title in Genk's loss against Brugge in Belgium's Supercup.
Toma represented Switzerland U21 for the last time in 2018 and no longer has the right to do so because of her age.
Since then, he has been awaiting call from Switzerland A, while Kosovo has been on hold.
