A promising dream came to life on September 10, 2020, with the signing for the formation of the Unic League. A Joint League between Kosovo and Albania in basketball. A dream for many Albanians, which was finalised with FIBA support for Europe.
Kosovo Basketball Federation Chairman Arben Fetah and Albanian Basketball Federation President Avni Ponari were the ones who entered history, signing the most important agreement on Kosovo and Albania basketball.
Logo was introduced by Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, while there were many special guests such as Turgay Demirel, FIBA President Europe and Minister Vlora Doshumi and Besa Sahini.
A news release that stopped sports media in the two countries. A moment long awaited for many Albanians. A historic moment.
The first year was difficult because of the David 19 pandemic that conquered the world and stopped many world races, but the first edition was developed in the form of Final 8. Rahoveci and Durres were host cities where the Golden Eagle Star finally triumphed, while Erjon Kastrati was elected MVP.
Many innovations are expected this year, such as the International Supercup and the League in women's competition, and much innovation in the years to come.
The dream will continue for many years.
