The document, with the “theme Consolidation of Kosovo's sovereignty: why does it matter and what needs to be done?” stresses that Serbia is the biggest factor of instability in the Balkan region.
This, since official Belgrade intervenes in the internal affairs of the countries of the region, heads up with Russia and China and in no way accepts independent Kosovo.
“A renewed commitment to consolidating Kosovo's sovereignty is a clear tool by which Kosovo partners can demonstrate their commitment to a democratic partner and a principled attitude towards Serbia's nonliberal and destabilising behaviour and its opposition to its growing military ties with Russia and China”, said among other things in the report.
Under proposals for steps to be taken by the West, it is said among other things that facilitators of the talks should reject ideas of border changes, renew commitment to a dialogue between the equals, work for Kosovo's greater involvement in international organisations, and pave the way for its NATO membership by 2027.
For the Wilson Centre report, compiled by a considerable number of professors and experts of developments in the region and Kosovo, the chief author of the work, Anna Di Lelio, professor of the University in New York, has spoken for Klan Kosova.
