The 27-year-old is being charged with four cases of rape and a case of sexual assault on his home in Cheshire.
They are linked to three alleged attacks on three women, including one who was a minor, between October 2020 and August 2021, the BBC reports.
Mr. Mendy spoke only to confirm his name, address, and date of birth.
He showed no emotion until he was taken into custody by the court.
Protector left played for Premier League champions from 2017 when he moved from Monaco for 52 million pounds.
In a statement issued to the media during yesterday, Manchester City has announced that he has suspended the player because of the investigation. /Periscope
