Like many of you, Michelle and I were so upset when we heard about the terrorist attack outside Kabul that killed and injured so many members of the American service, as well as men, women, and Afghan children.
As president, nothing was more painful than grief for the lovers of Americans who gave their lives in serving our country. As President Biden said, these service members are heroes who are engaged in a dangerous, self - sacrificing mission to save the lives of others.
Our hearts are with the families who lost their loved ones and all those who continue the mission in Kabul.
We also think about the families of Afghans who died, many of whom stayed close to America and were willing to risk everything for a chance, for a better life. God bless the memory of those we lost and saved those who remain there.
