VW Golf defended its position as Europe's best-selling car in the first half of the year.
After a five per cent increase in records compared to the same period a year ago in 125,502 units, the compact car was clearly ahead of Peugeot 208 (113,026 units) and Toyota Yaris (112,220 units).
The last strongest contestant Renault Clio slipped back by eight percent to fourth place (109,573 units), according to statistics from the consulting firm Yato.
Ford Puma with a plus 130 percent
The biggest winner within the top 25 was Ford Puma with a 130 per cent increase in 83,005 units, which is enough for the 14th country.
As the best-known German premium model that landed Mercedes A-Class with 67,791 new recordings was ranked 23rd, ahead of BMW series 3 with 66,532 new recordings.
