French Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has completed his move to AC Milan.
The 34-year-old World Cup winner underwent a medical check on Friday before signing with the deputy champion of Serie A who return to the League series next season after a seven-year absence.
“AC Milan is pleased to announce the signing of Olivier Jonathan Giroud in a permanent transfer from Chelsea”, the club said in a statement without specifying the length that Italian media reported it is for two years.
“The French attacker will have a fan number 9”.
Chelsea extended Giroud's contract last month for a year until June 2022, but he preferred an escape from Stamford Bridge after falling in favour with only eight of Premier League's openings last season.
“For all Blues, for my teammates, for all my trainers, for the entire club, a great thank you for these special moments that I'm beginning a new trip with a light and happy heart,” said Giroud on Twitter after his treatment Friday.

In AC Milan, Giroud is expected to join the attack with Swedish star Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Giroud won Ligue 1 with Montpellier in 2012 before moving to England, spending six seasons in Arsenal before joining Chelsea in 2018.
For the Topchies he scored 105 goals in 253 matches, winning three FA Cups and three Community Shields.
With Chelsea he scored 39 goals in 119 presentations, winning the FA Cup trophy and also Europe League in 2019 and the League Champions last season.
