Diego Simeone has renewed his contract with Atletico Madrid by 2024, according to Marcha. Argentina arrived in the Spanish capital as coach in 2011, bringing los rojiblaccios to eight titles. The latest of them is last season's La League, something Simeon would like to protect this upcoming campaign.
It has been an extension working since mid-December, when Miguel Angel Gil Marin found that negotiations were under way.
Simeone is now the longest-lived coach in Atletico's history and the longest-lived coach currently paid in Spanish football, the Periscope broadcasts.
As well as Simeone, all of his training staff -- the key to Atletico's success -- have also renovated. This includes Nelson Vivas, El Profe Ortega, Vercellone and Hernan Bonvicini. Simeone has won 316 matches as coach of Los Royblanccio, an achievement that even legend Luis Aragones has not equalized.
The logical ambition of this new phase of Simeon's reign in the Metropolitan Wand is the Champions League. It was a headline he has failed to remove during his time in the Spanish capital, despite his arrival in the finals in 2014 and 2016; both lost to the great rivals Real Madrid. /Periscopi
