Marcelo: “It is an honor to be captain of the world's largest club”

Legendary Left Protector spoke with Real Madrid TV after Saturday's training session.

A time has passed since Real Madrid's leftist defender, Marcelo Viera was considered a crucial team player in terms of his contributions to the field.

Yet, Marcelo will be the team's first captain this season after Sergio Ramos's departure. Today, the club legend spoke with Real Madrid TV and discussed what it means for him to have such an important role.

While he is not an undisputed rookie anymore, he still has the passion to continue and contribute in every way he can.

The club may be eager to let Marcelo leave in order to get rid of his contract, but it seems he will stay. He may try to help some of Real Madrid's prospects, something he already did last season, according to Miguel Gutierrez.

I'd say instead of learning things, I'm trying to help them with things that maybe they haven't tried before: things in training, ball management, listening to coach, being more aware of what the coach is looking for... Normal stuff like that, because we all know they're quality players. As footballers, we have a limited amount of football in us, but it's very intense. It's important to learn every day, ” explained Marcelo.

Carlo Anceplott is back with the team. Could this mean more minutes for Marcelo in view of the fine relationship both of them had in the past? The defender did not reveal his expectations but praised his new trainer and former.
