US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, however, has warned that adding an additional option, except for a male and female, would take time, the BBC reports, translates Periscopi.
He also announced a change in the rule that unable people to choose their own gender without a medical certificate.
He said the department would work with other agencies “to provide as much travel experience as possible for passport carriers”.
