Conami has cancelled the contract with Antoine Grieezmann after a video in which the star of France and Barcelona is seen making fun of the Asian staff at the hotel that I released this week.
The video, which seems to show Griezmann as well as his friend of the Uzan Demble team making fun of Asian technicians during the Barcelona tournament in Japan in 2019, has caused a harsh reaction between racism in Snapchat.
According to ESPN, on video Demee tells Griesmann: “All these ugly faces, just to play PEZ, are you not ashamed?
Demee then seems to be making fun of Japanese before asking: “you're advanced in your country, aren't you?
Greezmann's Audio is hard to understand, but he's seen smiling while the hotel staff is trying to fix a television set so he can play the EPS.
In response, Conam has dismissed Griesmann as Yu-Gi-Oh! The content ambassador and asked Barcelona, which is an EPS partner club, how will they handle the situation.
“Digital Entainment Conconami believes, such as the philosophy of sport, that discrimination of any kind is unacceptable,” Conami said in a statement, Periscopi broadcasts.
We had previously notified Antoine Greezmann as our ambassador of content Yu-Gi-Oh! In light of recent events, however, we have decided to cancel the contract.
“The EPS, we will ask FC Barcelona as a club partner to explain the details of this issue and its future actions. ”
Barcelona's main sponsor, the Japanese electronics company Rakken, had already sought an explanation from the Catalan club about the video.
Grizmann has posted an apology on Twitter, saying he “has always been committed to any form of discrimination”. I strongly dismiss the accusations against me and I am sorry if I offended my Japanese friends,” he went on.
Debleve has also apologised in social media, insisting there was no racist intention.
Barcelona issued a statement today, saying Greezmann and DeKree “represented disrespect in their attitude towards several employees in the hotel in which they were standing”.
This position in no way equals values that FC Barcelona represents and protects. ”
Barcelona then kept apologizing, insisting it was “committed to ensuring that the episodes of this nature do not repeat”.
“Players have already shown their remorse and have apologised to Japanese fans and partners, something the club appreciates. Anyway, The FC Barcelona reserves the right to take the internal measures it considers appropriate. ”
Konami has a close relationship with Barcelona and has released special editions at the EPS club that include promotional work by its players, including Grizmann. /Periscopi
