On July 7th 2021, Fazli Veselini, the father of former Kosovo Parliament Speaker Kadri Wessel, passed away.
At his father's funeral ceremony, Wessel has not attended because he is in custody at The Hague.
On this topic, the newspaper “The new age” has asked the Special Court why they have not allowed Wessel to attend his father's funeral ceremony. Similarly, the newspaper has asked the Special whether it will allow Wessel to come to Kosovo at least for condolences.
The Special Court Information Office has said the panel near this court will decide on demands of this nature, but has not indicated whether Wessel will be released temporarily.
“Cornosis of Kosovo Specialised Chambers enables people in custody to make requests on the competent panel (judgment/t) when there are convincing humanitarian reasons. The panel will decide on such demands. All public statements presented by the defence and decisions made by the panel are published on the DHSK's” website, said the Special Court's written response.
