During yesterday's day, Kosovo Foreign Affairs Minister Donika Grovalla Schwarz has delivered a speech at the Dubrovnik Forum, a speech that has been commented highly criticised during yesterday.
In this address, Schwarz has said that the European Union is not guilty of the mistakes of Kosovo and Western Balkan countries, thus arguing that visa non-liberalisation and not opening negotiations for EU accession, for Northern Macedonia and Albania, writes Metro newspaper. Her full speech, Schwarz, also published on Facebook, as criticisms began shortly after the media report on this part of her statement, while she chose to criticize media for newsnews, until she spoke about media freedom.
“Therefore, but above all for ourselves, we must fulfill our duties: We have to build the rule of law, including being tough towards corruption. We must guarantee freedom of the press and make real legal reform. We haven't gotten there yet. And no reason to blame the EU for our mistakes. None of us should deceive ourselves by saying or thinking that we can enter (the EU) without doing our jobs.” was Schwarz's statement that caused a stir.
The first to react to Schwarz was Democratic Party of Kosovo and former Kosovo Ambassador to the United States Vlora Citaku, who told Kosovo Foreign Affairs Minister Donika Grovalla Schwarz that the truth should not be distorted at the expense of Kosovo and that he is obliged to crack Kosovo in its best light.
The honoured “Ministry, a few weeks ago in Pristina, Germany's Foreign Affairs Minister confirmed what the European Commission and the European Parliament are now repeating for several years: Kosovo has met all criteria for visa liberalisation. You know, the citizens of Venezuela, Colombia and many others up to Taiwan can travel without visas to the EU. No one is saying that Kosovo is ready today to be an EU member, because we have yet to do in the fight against corruption, in the rule of law and in the eternity of European values. But to be clear, there is no uniformity within the EU in implementing values and standards. Not all EU countries are at the level of Finland or Sweden. But, above all, you are Kosovo Foreign Minister. Your task is to crack Kosovo in its best light. Not to say the truth, but not to distort it.”, Citaku wrote.
