Since the outbreak of conflict in Syria and Iraq, about 400 Kosovars traveled to Syria, among them men, women, and children. From that number, 242 persons returned to Kosovo.
Svechla's full delivery:
Kosovo is proud to be a global leader in the fight against extremism and terrorism.
Today, we have returned 11 Kosovo citizens from conflict zones in Syria.
Backing these people, we're exercising our responsibility, not only to our citizens, but also as members of the Global Coalition to defeat I SIS.
Kosovo will always be home to its citizens.
Those who committed crimes, here or outside, will be prosecuted.
The wife and children we have returned today need our help and support. We ask everyone to respect their privacy in the days, weeks and months ahead. They have and deserve the time and space needed to adapt. Our government is helping them get back to their families so they can reintegration into their circle.
We will not stop serving our citizens! /
