New Zealand Muslims oppose movie about attack on glass

Muslims in New Zealand have rejected the plan for a film about shooting in the Christchurch mosque in 2019, where an armed person killed 51 people by saying the attack is still fresh for grieving families and their community. The film, titled “They Are Us”
The film, titled “Their Are Us”, will focus on Prime Minister Yacinda Ardern's response to attacks on two mosques on March 15th.
The title was taken from the words of Ardern that day. The 40-year-old leader's compassionate response to the attack brought her shocked country together and was praised globally.
“still has a lot of sensitivity about the tragic events”, Obadiah Ali, spokesman for the Muslim Association of Canterbury, said in a statement, broadcast Klankosova.tv.
“We question the timing and whether a film is appropriate now. The terrorist attack is still for our community”.
Ardern has distanced from the project with her office saying she and the government have no involvement in it.
Australian actress Rose Byrne is set to play Ardern in the movie, according to Hollywood Reporter, and Andree Niccol would write and run it.
The “The Are Us” did not have much to do with the attack, but with the response to it, Niccol was quoted as saying about Hollywood Reporter, who described a “inspiring history about the leadership's response to tragic events”.
But some Muslims questioned this focus.
This is not a inspiring history”, said Mohammed Hassan, a journalist and Auckland-based poet, in a comment aired on New Zealand Radio.
The “is a tragedy that should always focus on Muslim victims and their families”.
